Type species: ¤ Nitrosarchaeum koreense Jung et al. 2018.
Etymology: N.L. adj. nitrosus, full of natron; here intended to mean nitrous; N.L. neut. n. archaeum, an archaeaon; N.L. neut. n. Nitrosarchaeum, an archaeon producing nitrite.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: HQ331116.
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. koreense, from South Korea where the type strain was isolated and characterized.
