Etymology: Gr. pref. para-, like, beside; N.L. neut. n. Sediminibacterium, the name of a bacterial genus; N.L. neut. n. Parasediminibacterium, resembling the genus Sediminibacterium, referring to the close relationship to the genus Sediminibacterium.
