Type species: ¤ Permianibacter aggregans Wang et al. 2014.
Etymology: N.L. adj. permianus, referring to the Permian era; N.L. masc. n. bacter a rod.; N.L. masc. n. Permianibacter, the Permian rod, referring to the isolation of the type species from Permian groundwater.
