Type species: ¤ Pseudobacteroides cellulosolvens Horino et al. 2014.
Etymology: Gr. adj. pseudês, false; N.L. n. masc. Bacteroides, a bacterial generic name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudobacteroides, false Bacteroides, so named for the original misclassification of the type species.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) WM2=ATCC 35603=DSM 2933=NRCC 2944.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: L35517.
Etymology: N.L. n. cellulosum, cellulose; L. v. solvere, to dissolve; N.L. part. adj. cellulosolvens, cellulose-dissolving, so named because of its ability to ferment cellulosic substrates.
