Etymology: Gr. adj. pseudês, false; N.L. masc. n. Pedobacter, a bacterial genus; N.L. masc. n. Pseudopedobacter, like Pedobacter, referring to the close relationship to the genus.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. beijingensis, of Beijing, the capital of PR China, where the type strain was first isolated.
