Type species: ¤ Simulacricoccus ruber Garcia and Müller 2018.
Etymology: L. neut. n. simulacrum, image, phantom; N.L. masc. n. coccus, grain, seed; N.L. masc. n. Simulacricoccus, phantom seed, referring to a myxobacterium forming rounded spores in the absence of fruiting body.
