Type species: ¤ Swingsia samuiensis Malimas et al. 2014.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Swingsia, after Jean Swings, Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium, who contributed to the systematics and phylogeny of bacteria, especially of acetic acid bacteria.
