Type species: ¤ Tepidisphaera mucosa Kovaleva et al. 2015.
Etymology: L. adj. tepidus, warm; L. fem. n. sphaera, a globe, sphere; N.L. fem. n. Tepidisphaera, a warm sphere, spherical bacterium growing at moderately high temperature (up to 50℃).

Etymology: L. fem. adj. mucosa, slimy, referring to the property of cells to produce exopolysaccharide during growth in liquid medium.
