Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; L. part. adj. flexus, bent, winding; N.L. masc. n. bacter, from Gr. neut. n. baktron, little stick or rod; N.L. masc. n. Thermoflexibacter, a thermophilic flexible rod.
