Etymology: sa.ru.ma’ni.i. N.L. gen. masc. n. sarumanii, of Saruman, based on the white and later evil wizard from “The Lord of the Rings” as S. sarumanii is a pathogen and, unlike S. marcescens as it was prior identified in the clinic, this species has a white phenotype
