Type species: ¤ Acetofilamentum rigidum Dietrich et al. 1989.
Etymology: L. n. acetum, vinegar; L. neut. n. filamentum, a spun thread; N.L. neut. n. Acetofilamentum, an acetate-producing, filamentous, threadlike bacterium.
