Type genus: ¤ Acidithiobacillus Kelly and Wood 2000.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Acidithiobacillus, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending to denote order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Acidithiobacillales, the Acidithiobacillus order.
