Type species: ¤ Advenella incenata Coenye et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. fem. n. advena, a stranger, a foreigner; L. fem. dim. suff. -ella; N.L. fem. n. Advenella, the little stranger, referring to the fact that the source of these unusual organisms is unknown.
