Etymology: N.L. n. Agaricus, generic name of a mushroom; L. suff. -cola (from L. masc. or fem. n. incola), dweller; N.L. masc. n. Agaricicola, Agaricus-dweller, reflecting isolation of the first strain from Agaricus blazei (Murrill).
