Type species: ¤ Alloprevotella tannerae (Moore et al. 1994) Downes et al. 2013.
Etymology: Gr. adj. allos, different; N.L. fem. n. Prevotella, a bacterial generic name; N.L. fem. n. Alloprevotella, organism different from, but related to, the genus Prevotella.

Alloprevotella rava Downes et al. 2013, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) 81/4-12 = CCUG 58091 = DSM 22548.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JQ039189.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. rava, grey, referring to the colour of colonies of the organism growing on blood-containing agar media.
