Type species: ¤ Alpinimonas psychrophila Schumann et al. 2012.
Etymology: L. adj. alpinus, of or pertaining to the Alps, Alpine; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Alpinimonas, an Alpine unit (bacterium), a bacterium isolated from the Alps.
