Etymology: N.L. n. aminum (amino in compound words involving chemicals), amine; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Aminobacterium, the amino acid rod.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. thunnarium, of or belonging to a tunny (cooking tuna wastewater), where the isolate was first recovered.
