Etymology: N.L. n. aminum (amino in compound words involving chemicals), amine; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Aminobacterium, the amino acid rod.

Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. colombiense, pertaining to Columbia, the origin of the isolate.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) OTA 102=DSM 27500=JCM 19320.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: KJ159211.
Etymology: L. masc. adj. thunnarium, of or belonging to a tunny (cooking tuna wastewater), where the isolate was first recovered.
