Type species: ¤ Bisgaardia hudsonensis Foster et al. 2011.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Bisgaardia, to honour Magne Bisgaard, a contemporary Danish microbiologist, for his contributions to the taxonomy of the family Pasteurellaceae.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. hudsonensis, of or belonging to Hudson Bay, the area of Canada where the strains originated.
