Caldilinea Sekiguchi et al. 2003, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Caldilineaceae Yamada et al. 2006; type genus of the order ¤ Caldilineales Yamada et al. 2006).
Type species: ¤ Caldilinea aerophila Sekiguchi et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. adj. caldus, hot; L. fem. n. linea, line; N.L. fem. n. Caldilinea, line-shaped living in a hot environment.
Valid publication: SEKIGUCHI (Y.), YAMADA (T.), HANADA (S.), OHASHI (A.), HARADA (H.) and KAMAGATA (Y.): Anaerolinea thermophila gen. nov., sp. nov. and Caldilinea aerophila gen. nov., sp. nov., novel filamentous thermophiles that represent a previously uncultured lineage of the domain Bacteria at the subphylum level. Etymology: Gr. n. aer aeros, air; N.L. fem. adj. phila (from Gr. fem. adj. philê), friend, loving; N.L. fem. adj. aerophila, air-loving.

Caldilinea tarbellica Grégoire et al. 2011, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) D1-25-10-4 = DSM 22659 = JCM 16120.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: HM134893.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. tarbellica, Tarbellian, here intended to mean belonging to Aquae Tarbellicae, the Roman name of Dax, referring to the origin of the type strain.
