Chlorobacteria Cavalier-Smith 2002, class. nov.
Type order: "Chloroflexales".
Etymology: Gr. adj. khloros, green; Gr. n. baktêria, staff, cane; suff. -ia, ending to denote a class; N.L. neut. pl. n. Chlorobacteria, group of bacteria named after the colour of the photosynthetic species.

Notes:
1 The type order "Chloroflexales" does not appear on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names, and has not been validly published since 1 January 1980. Consequently, Chlorobacteria Cavalier-Smith 2002 is illegitimate.
2 Chlorobacteria was previously known as "Chlorobacteria" Cavalier-Smith 1992.
