Etymology: Gr. adj. khruseos, golden; L. masc. n. globus, ball; N.L. masc. n. Chryseoglobus, yellow ball.

Etymology: L. adj. frigidus, cold; L. fem. n. aqua, water; N.L. gen. n. frigidaquae, from/of cold water, as the type strain was isolated from a water-cooling system.
