Type genus: ¤ Clostridium Prazmowski 1880 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Clostridium, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Clostridiales, the Clostridium order.
