Type species: ¤ Clostridiisalibacter paucivorans Liebgott et al. 2008.
Etymology: N.L. n. Clostridium, a bacterial genus name; L. n. sal salis, salt; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Clostridiisalibacter, a halophilic rod, belonging to the Clostridium subphylum.

Etymology: L. adj. paucus, little; L. v. vorare, to eat; N.L. part. adj. paucivorans, eating little, relating to the observation that the organism utilizes few fatty acids and few amino acids.
