Type species: ¤ Compostimonas suwonensis Kim et al. 2012.
Etymology: N.L. n. compostum, compost; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Compostimonas, a bacterium isolated from compost.
Valid publication: KIM (S.J.), TAMURA (T.), HAMADA (M.), AHN (J.H.), WEON (H.Y.), PARK (I.C.), SUZUKI (K.I.) and KWON (S.W.): Compostimonas suwonensis gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from spent mushroom compost. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2012, 62, 2410-2416.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) SMC46 = KACC 13354 = NBRC 106304.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JN000316.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. suwonensis, of or belonging to Suwon region, where the bacterium was first found.
