Type genus: ¤ Corynebacterium Lehmann and Neumann 1896 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Corynebacterium, type genus of the suborder; suff. -ineae, ending to denote a suborder; N.L. fem. pl. n. Corynebacterineae, the Corynebacterium suborder.
