Crenothrix Cohn 1870, genus. (Type genus of the family ¤ Crenotrichaceae Hansgirg 1888 [Approved Lists 1980]).
Type species: ¤ Crenothrix polyspora Cohn 1870 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: Gr. n. krene, a fountain, spring; Gr. n. thrix, hair; N.L. fem. n. Crenothrix, fountain hair.
