Type species: ¤ Croceicoccus marinus Xu et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. adj. croceus, yellow, golden; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos), grain or berry; N.L. masc. n. Croceicoccus, yellow coccus, referring to a yellow coccoid-shaped bacterium.
