Type species: ¤ Deinobacterium chartae Ekman et al. 2011.
Etymology: Gr. adj. deinos (derived from a noun meaning fear, through the idea of forgetting the name of a fearful, i.e. strange), strange, unusual; L. neut. n. bacterium, rod, N.L. neut. n. Deinobacterium, an unusual bacterium.
