Type species: ¤ Dendrosporobacter quercicolus (Stankewich et al. 1971) Strömpl et al. 2000.
Etymology: Gr. n. dendron, tree; Gr. n. spora, a seed, and in biology a spore; N.L. n. bacter, rod, staff; N.L. masc. n. Dendrosporobacter, a spore-bearing rod from a tree.

Etymology: L. n. quercus, oak; N.L. masc. adj. quercicolus, intended to mean associated with oak trees.
