Etymology: L. pref. de, from, off, away; N.L. n. sulfis -itis, sulfite; N.L. fem. n. spora (from Gr. n. spora), a seed and in biology a spore; N.L. fem. n. Desulfitispora, spore-forming bacterium-reducing sulfite.
