Etymology: L. pref. de-, from; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; N.L. pref. desulfo-, desulfuricating (prefix used to characterize a dissimilatory sulfate-reducing procaryote); L. fem. n. capsa, box; N.L. fem. n. Desulfocapsa, a sulfate-reducing box.

Etymology: L. n. sulfur, sulfur; L. v. exigo, to demand; N.L. part. adj. sulfexigens, demanding sulfur for growth.

Etymology: Gr. n. theion (Latin transliteration thium), sulfur; Gr. n. zumê, leaven, ferment; N.L. suff. -genes (from Gr. v. gennaô, to produce), producing; N.L. part. adj. thiozymogenes, causing a fermentation of sulfur.
