Type genus: ¤ Desulfomicrobium Rozanova et al. 1994.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Desulfomicrobium, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Desulfomicrobiaceae, the Desulfomicrobium family.
