Desulfurella Bonch-Osmolovskaya et al. 1993, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Desulfurellales Kuever et al. 2006; type genus of the family ¤ Desulfurellaceae Kuever et al. 2006).
Type species: ¤ Desulfurella acetivorans Bonch-Osmolovskaya et al. 1993.
Etymology: L. pref. de, from; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; L. fem. dim. ending -ella; N.L. fem. n. Desulfurella, a small sulfur reducer.
