Etymology: L. pref. de, from; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; N.L. dim. neut. n. spirillum, a small spiral (from L. n. spira, spiral); N.L. neut. n. Desulfurispirillum, a spirillum that reduces elemental sulfur.
