Type species: ¤ Desulfurispora thermophila Kaksonen et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. pref. de, from; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; Gr. fem. n. spora, a seed and, in biology, a spore; N.L. fem. n. Desulfurispora, a spore-forming organism that reduces sulfur compounds.
