Enhydrobacter Staley et al. 1987, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Enhydrobacter aerosaccus Staley et al. 1987.
Etymology: Gr. adj. enudros (Latin transliteration enhydros) living in or by water, aquatic N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Enhydrobacter, aquatic rod.

Enhydrobacter aerosaccus Staley et al. 1987, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)

Etymology: Gr. n. aer aeros, air; Gr. n. sakkos, sack, bag; N.L. n. aerosaccus, bag filled with air, gas vacuolate.
