Type genus: ¤ Enterococcus (ex Thiercelin and Jouhaud 1903) Schleifer and Kilpper-Bälz 1984.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Enterococcus, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Enterococcaceae, family of the genus Enterococcus.
