Etymology: L. n. ferrugo -inis, iron-rust, the color of iron-rust, dark-red; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Ferruginibacter, rust-coloured rod.

Etymology: N.L. n. alkali (from Arabic article al, the; Arabic n. qaliy, ashes of saltwort), alkali; L. adj. lentus -a -um, slow, sluggish, indifferent, unconcerned, reluctant; N.L. masc. adj. alkalilentus, indifferent to alkaline solution, referring to negative reaction for the flexirubin-KOH test.
