Type genus: ¤ Flammeovirga Nakagawa et al. 1997.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Flammeovirga, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L fem. pl. n. Flammeovirgaceae, the Flammeovirga family.
