Etymology: L. n. fodina, a pit, mine; L. suff. -cola (from L. n. incola), dweller; N.L. masc. n. Fodinicola, a mine dweller.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. feengrottensis, of or pertaining to the Thuringian cave Feengrotten, the origin of the type strain.
