Etymology: L. adj. fulvus, yellow-brownish; L. fem. n. virga, rod; N.L. fem. n. fulvivirga, a yellow-brownish-coloured rod.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. imtechensis, of or belonging to IMTECH, arbitrary adjective formed from the acronym of the Institute of Microbial Technology in Chandigarh (IMTECH), where the isolate was characterised.

Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. kasyanovii, of Kasyanov, in honour of Vladimir L. Kasyanov (1940-2005), the famous Russian marine biologist, for his contributions to the development of marine biology and microbiology in the Far East.
