Gaiella Albuquerque et al. 2012, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Gaiellales Albuquerque et al. 2012; type genus of the family ¤ Gaiellaceae Albuquerque et al. 2012).
Type species: ¤ Gaiella occulta Albuquerque et al. 2012.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Gaiella, named after Gaia, Greek goddess of the earth, referring to the origin of the organism (i.e. the earth).
