Etymology: L. n. Gallaecia, the country of the Gallaeci, now Galicia, a region of north-west Spain; L. fem. n. monas, a monad, unit; N.L. fem. n. Gallaecimonas, single microbe isolated from Galicia.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. xiamenensis, of or belonging to Xiamen, a city in Fujian, China, close to where the type strain was isolated.
