Type genus: ¤ Halanaerobium corrig. Zeikus et al. 1984.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Halanaerobium, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Halanaerobiaceae, the Halanaerobium family.
