Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; L. fem. n. cella, a store-room and in biology a cell; N.L. fem. n. Halocella, salt cell.

Etymology: N.L. n. cellulosum, cellulose; N.L. fem. adj. lytica (from Gr. fem. adj. lutikê), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. cellulosilytica, organism which dissolves cellulose.
