Type species: ¤ Haloglycomyces albus Guan et al. 2009.
Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; N.L. masc. n. Glycomyces, a bacterial genus name; N.L. masc. n. Haloglycomyces, a salt-(loving) Glycomyces-like bacterium.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. albus, white, referring to the white aerial mycelium.
