Type species: ¤ Halovenus aranensis Makhdoumi-Kakhki et al. 2012.
Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; L. fem. n. venus, beauty, grace, elegance; N.L. fem. n. Halovenus, a salt-loving beauty, reflecting the attractive appearance of colonies.
