Type genus: ¤ Hydrogenophilus Hayashi et al. 1999.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Hydrogenophilus, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Hydrogenophilaceae, the Hydrogenophilus family.
