Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Jeongeupia, named after Jeongeup, a Korean city, the location of Naejang Mountain.

Jeongeupia chitinilytica Chen et al. 2013, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) Jchi = BCRC 80367 = KCTC 23701.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JF809864.
Etymology: N.L. n. chitinum, chitin; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. chitinilytica, dissolving chitin.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. naejangsanensis, of or pertaining to Naejangsan, the Korean name of Naejang Mountain, from where the type strain was isolated.
