Type species: ¤ Kribbia dieselivorans Jung et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Kribbia, arbitrary name formed from the acronym of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, KRIBB, where taxonomic studies of this taxon were performed.

Note: Another new genus and new species have been described in the ¤ Intrasporangiaceae (¤ Phycicoccus and ¤ Phycicoccus jejuensis) with the same diagnostic diamino acid (see LEE (S.D.): Phycicoccus jejuensis gen. nov., sp. nov., an actinomycete isolated from seaweed.
